9th Grade Team

Crossing the threshold from middle to high school is a major milestone in the lives of adolescents. This transition presents students with exciting opportunities as well as potentially daunting challenges, such as more rigorous academic expectations, a less familiar school building, and a larger, more diverse student body.  At Harwood Union, our 9th Grade Team acts as a bridge to ease this transition for students. We work together as teachers, counselors, and administrators to help students navigate the new challenges and opportunities of high school and to inform parents of all that is going on at Harwood. The educators on the 9th Grade Team meet regularly, share curriculum and student work, and learn together to help all of our students:

  • gain foundational academic skills and content knowledge
  • develop technology, organizational, study, and social skills
  • practice the Habits of Work essential for success in and beyond high school
  • receive academic support
  • feel connected to their peers and teachers

Our 9th Grade Community Consists of:

  • Sarah Butler (Math)
  • Tara Cariano (School Counselor)
  • Rebecca Busker (Learning Resource Center)
  • Lissa Fox (Personal and Future Explorations)
  • Jonah Ibson (English)
  • Dan Morse (English)
  • Ryan McCormick (History
  • Kristi McKnight (Science)
  • Chandra Nizamoff (Science)
  • Greg Shepler (History)
